TRANSFER
How does COT support work place transfer of
learning?
The first step in working with your organisation
is to spend time understanding the nature, functions, and
challenges facing your business. Based upon this we will tailor
your program so that the design, content and sequence meets
specific business outcomes.
Our approach to the transfer of learning to the work place is
based on the methodology of the Experiential Learnining Cycle.
For meaningful and lasting learning to occur all 4 areas of the
learning cycle must be addressed. Our skilled facilitators can
provide assistance in all four areas and have an extensive
knowledge and experience of organisational needs:
DO: Not all
experiences can guarantee a constructive and positive learning
experience. We believe that participants can benefit enormously
during an activity from well timed, and appropriate coaching and
encouragement to promote beneficial behaviours.
PROCESS: This is
the reflective stage where participants take the opportunity to
discuss what happened during the experience. Our staff are
experts in the skills of facilitation to ensure full
participation and meaningful discussion occurs. They also can
provide unbiased and objective feedback as an observer of the
experience.
GENERALISE:
Participants must be able to make sense of the experience so that
the behaviours and processes can be applied to a wider range of
situations. COT staff have a thorough understanding of the key
themes and aim of each activity and can guide participants to
make the link between the experience and the learning outcome.
APPLY: This is the
critical step where concepts and ideals need be to translated
into demonstrated behaviours and actions. While we cannot force
anyone to change we believe that for personal development to
occur it is important for individuals to have a raised awareness
of preferences and abilities. With this in mind we can work with
participants to identify strengths and weaknesses and develop
action plans for further improvement.
Corporate Outdoor Training believe that team and leadership
development is not a one off event, but a process that requires
ongoing attention if the best results are to be achieved. To
support this belief COT offers an extensive range of ongoing
support services and programs to ensure your organisation
achieves the desired outcomes.
